[Health] - "Te Whare Tapa Wha - Hauora"

Te Whare Tapa Wha

During the sessions in Health class we’ve expanded even more knowledge between ourselves and our well-being.

Throughout the past few weeks we’ve learnt about our well-being first in English then in Māori. The four dimensions are known as Taha Hinengaro (Mental/Emotional), Taha Tinana (Physical), Taha Wairua (Spiritual) and Taha Whanau (Social), overall this is called Health.

There are 23 different keywords that relate to the four dimensions. These keywords associate with our feelings, how we take care of ourselves, and how we socialise.

For Taha Hinengaro this mindset affects the way we feel and think. Mental comes with our emotions and Emotional comes with our feelings. Personally, this dimension mostly affects the way we use our brains. For example, if someone was being bullied by people who use their physical skills and here's you trying your hardest not to cry. But your feelings along with emotions click, which would result in depression, being scared and becoming anonymous.

For Taha Tinana, this certain physical aspect affects the way we do things and how we do it. For myself personally my physical well-being has been affected by the amount of running I would do three times a week and the amount of actions I would do everyday. But overall my physical well being wall has been structurally strong.

For Taha Wairua, this form of well-being just affects the way we value many things. What I mean is this certain well-being dimension just affects all the things we have valued towards our beliefs and achievements. For myself this has been affected by the way I’ve achieved a lot during the past few years and the times I’ve been going to church.

For Taha Whānau, this well-being format affects the way we socialise with family, friends and social media. But personally on my side of view, my social well being has been affected in a way I can socialise with my family and friends. And this has improved my ability to stand out more often towards my familys and friends. This has resulted in a healthy mindset between my social well being and my own actions.

Recently my overall well-being has been affected positively by my recent actions since the day I ran for my life but this was during a big run, from Mission Bay towards Saint Heliers. I’ve also been apart of the Akomanga Kaihanga class. This has positively affected my well-being, because during the classes I’ve been able to show my strengths with each dimension

Recently my mental/emotional wellbeing has been affected negatively, as I’ve been feeling low on energy & tired. This has affected my learning and effort towards activities. However, slowly my mental/emotional well-being has been improving because I've been able to open up my side of view to someone who I know and trust.
